Non-Classical Memory Kernels in Linear Viscoelasticity

open access: yes, 2016
In linear viscoelasticity, a large variety of regular kernels have been classically employed, depending on the mechanical properties of the materials to be modeled. Nevertheless, new viscoelastic materials, such as viscoelastic gels, have been recently discovered and their mechanical behavior requires convolution integral with singular kernels to be ...

Ultra‐Improved Interfacial Strength Between Metallic Surface and Polyurethane via Cost‐Effective Anodizing Process

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
SAA significantly enhanced Al/PU bonding, increasing SLSS by up to 920% and fracture energy by 15 100% through optimized micro‐nano porous surfaces. RSM identified the optimal anodizing conditions, while ML confirmed sulfuric acid concentration and roughness as dominant predictors of strength.

Laser‐Based Solidification of Cermets/Cemented Carbides: Processing‐Microstructure‐Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Recent research on laser‐processed cermets and cemented carbides highlights significant advancements, yet a notable paucity of studies and persistent challenges remain. Efforts are increasingly focused on developing low‐cost, environmentally friendly cermets as alternatives to conventional materials.

Linear kernel combination using boosting

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm to design multi- class kernels based on an iterative combination of weak kernels in a schema inspired from the boosting framework. Our solution has a complexity lin- ear with the training set size. We evaluate our method for classification on a toy example by integrating our multi-class kernel into a kNN clas-

Food‐Based Edible Wireless Sensing Device with Isotropic Electromagnetic Response for Gastrointestinal Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A sensor is fabricated that reflects electromagnetic waves wirelessly using only edible materials. The substrate is made of edible materials such as sugar and starch, and the electrodes are made of gold. This sensor has isotropic electromagnetic wave characteristics in response to rotation.

Ductility Tuning via Cluster Network Characteristics of Porous Components

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Network optimization via cluster characteristics induced by interaction of stress concentration is proposed, demonstrating increased cluster size and dispersion in non‐uniform porous components. The optimized structures exhibit, for the first time, that enhanced ductility and damage progression is controllable through zigzag cluster network designed by
