Micromaser with Kerr nonlinearity

Physical Review A, 1993
A micromaser containing a Kerr medium in its cavity has been investigated. We have presented an exact solution to the model Hamiltonian, which, apart from the usual Jaynes-Cummings terms, contains a Kerr term (${\mathit{a}}^{\mathrm{\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}}2}$${\mathit{a}}^{2}$). We have shown that the Kerr cavity nonlinearity significantly

ENTANGLEMENT CONCENTRATION WITH CROSS-KERR NONLINEARITY

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2014
We propose a protocol for realizing two entanglement concentration scheme with cross-Kerr nonlinearity and double cross-phase modulation method. In our protocols, two remote parties do not require the accurate information of the less entangled state and the double cross-phase modulation is introduced to overcome the errors caused by the imperfect Kerr

Nonlinear directional coupler with a diffusive Kerr-type nonlinearity

Optics Letters, 1988
We present numerical results showing the effects of a diffusive Kerr-type nonlinearity on the switching characteristics of a nonlinear directional coupler. It is found that switching can still occur even when the diffusion length is equal to the waveguide separation but that then its threshold increases and becomes less pronounced.

Nonlinear magneto-optical Kerr effects

Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, 1999
The polarization state of a second-harmonic wave after reflection from a semi-infinite, optically isotropic magnetic medium is considered for the three characteristic uniformmagnetization directions corresponding to the linear magneto-optical Kerr effects. Expressions for the complex amplitudes of the wave field which specify the nonlinear Kerr effects,

Perturbation theory for Kerr nonlinear leaky cavities

Optics Letters, 2020
In emerging open photonic resonators that support quasinormal eigenmodes, fundamental physical quantities and methods have to be carefully redefined. Here, we develop a perturbation theory framework for nonlinear material perturbations in leaky optical cavities.

Ultimate Performance Of Kerr Nonlinear Plasmonics Waveguides

Nonlinear Optics, 2017
Plasmonic structures are promising because they strongly enhance light-matter interactions. Here we compare different one-dimensional plasmonic structures comparing them with dielectric ones in order to establish the ultimate performance of Kerr nonlinearities in these structures.

Brillouin penalty in Kerr-based nonlinear devices

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO 2000). Technical Digest. Postconference Edition. TOPS Vol.39 (IEEE Cat. No.00CH37088), 2000
Summary form only given. Recent work showed cross-phase modulation (XPM) has interesting features, almost unlimited speed of operation and wide operation bandwidth, for all-optical signal processing such as in nonlinear optical loop mirror-based wavelength conversion.

Discrete Vector Solitons in Kerr Nonlinear Waveguide Arrays

Physical Review Letters, 2003
We report the first experimental observation of discrete vector solitons in AlGaAs nonlinear waveguide arrays. These self-trapped states are possible through the coexistence of two orthogonally polarized fields and are stable in spite of the presence of four-wave mixing effects.

Electromagnetic scattering by nonlinear dielectric cylinders with non‐kerr‐like nonlinearities

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 1995
AbstractIn this letter, electromagnetic scattering by nonlinear dielectric cylinders under transverse magnetic illumination is considered. The nonlinearity is assumed to be so weak as to allow the application of an iterative approach based on the distorted‐wave Born approximation.
