Mechanical protection for composite structures submitted to low energy impact [PDF]
Composite materials are widely used in aeronautical structures. These materials can be submitted to low energy impacts like tool drop, routine operations… Such impacts can generate damages in the material that significantly reduce the structure strength.

Kevlar 49-Epoxy insulator [PDF]
Kevlar 49-Epoxy composite structural insulators were fabricated from two and three dimensionally reinforced material. The insulator configuration was that of a cylindrical cup having both external and internal threads. Electrical and mechanical property data was obtained for test samples of both materials.

Rotor burst protection program: Experimentation to provide guidelines for the design of turbine rotor burst fragment containment rings [PDF]
Empirical guidelines for the design of minimum weight turbine rotor disk fragment containment rings made from a monolithic metal were generated by experimentally establishing the relationship between a variable that provides a measure of containment ring

PBO Fibres: from saliling design towards architectural performance
p. 3013-3023PBO fibres, also called "high-performance" polymer fibres, are a group of materials known as "rigid rods". Through this work it is pretended to make some considerations about the use of these new generation fibres.

Shear-lag analysis of a hybrid, unidirectional composite with fiber damage [PDF]
Development of a method of analysis capable of predicting accurately the fracture behavior of unidirectional hybrid (buffer strip) composite laminates was studied. Three particular solutions are discussed in detail: broken fibers in a unidirectional half-

Fiber‐reinforced geopolymer composites (GPCs) are garnering heightened interest owing to their exceptional thermal stability and mechanical properties relative to traditional cement‐based systems. Kevlar and carbon–Kevlar hybrids are notably advantageous due to their exceptional tensile strength, low density, and ability to maintain structural ...
