Detonation Nanodiamonds for Doping Kevlar

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2010
This paper reports on the first attempt to enclose diamond nanoparticles--produced by detonation--into a Kevlar matrix. A nanocomposite material (40 wt% diamond) was prepared by precipitation from an acidic solution of Kevlar containing dispersed nanodiamonds. In this material, the diamond nanoparticles (Ø = 4 nm) are entirely wrapped in a Kevlar layer

On the morphology of aromatic polyamide fibers (Kevlar, Kevlar-49, and PRD-49)

Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part B, 1983
Abstract Three types of aromatic polyamide fibers (Kevlar, Kevlar-49, and PRD-49) were studied by transmission electron microscopy, secondary electron imaging, and electron diffraction techniques. Ultramicrotomy, ion-thinning, and brittle fracture techniques were used to prepare specimens which revealed both longitudinal and transverse fiber structures.

Hydrolysis of Kevlar Fibres

Polymers and Polymer Composites, 2001
Kevlar fibres were hydrolyzed in a concentrated aqueous solution of either sulphuric acid or sodium hydroxide. The hydrolyzed fibres were characterized by measuring the tensile strength and the interlaminar shear strength (ILSS). The active sites on the hydrolyzed surface were determined by the dyeing-decolorizing method.

Kevlar for Litigation

PsycCRITIQUES, 2011
Fear of litigation is like a horror film. After a disturbed graduate student threatened to burn down the home of a faculty member in my department, we called a mentor at the student’s prior university and asked why no related information was passed on to us. She said the student threatened to sue them if they said anything negative to anyone.

KEVLAR/J-2

Alloy Digest, 1991
Abstract KEVLAR/J-2 is an advanced thermoplastic composite material based on J-2 copolymer reinforced with continuous KEVLAR fiber. The inherent fiber/matrix compatibility of this composite provides attractive mechanical properties. This datasheet provides information on physical properties, tensile properties, and compressive and shear ...

Kevlar Stitch Patterns

1986
Abstract : The results of a study of parachute design Kevlar stitch pattern efficiency are given (1) to serve as a foundation for future studies of parachute stitch seam efficiencies, and (2) to eliminate the need for project personnel to perform individual pattern efficiency studies for each project.
