A note on quantum safe symmetric key growing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Quantum key distribution is a cryptographic primitive for the distribution of symmetric encryption keys between two parties that possess a pre-shared secret. Since the pre-shared secret is a requirement, quantum key distribution may be viewed as a key growing protocol. We note that the use of pre-shared secrets coupled with access to randomness beacons

Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

Key words for use in RFCs to Indicate Requirement Levels

open access: yesRequest for Comments, 1997
In many standards track documents several words are used to signify the requirements in the specification. These words are often capitalized. This document defines these words as they should be interpreted in IETF documents.

Unconventional mRNA processing and degradation pathways for the polycistronic yrzI (spyTA) mRNA in Bacillus subtilis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The S1025 peptide is the major antidote to the YrzI toxin, which we renamed here as SpyT (Small Peptide YrzI Toxin) and SpyA (Small Peptide YrzI Antitoxin) (1). Degradation of the toxin–antitoxin spyTA mRNA, either by a translation‐dependent cleavage by the endoribonuclease Rae1 (2) or by direct attack by 3′‐exoribonucleases (3), also contributes to ...

A secure key transfer protocol for group communication [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
Providing security for messages in group communication is more essential and critical nowadays. In group oriented applications such as Video conferencing and entertainment applications, it is necessary to secure the confidential data in such a way that intruders are not able to modify or transmit the data.

Bandwidth and SIMDUCE as simulator fidelity criteria [PDF]

open access: yes
The potential application of two concepts from the new Handling Qualities Specification for Military Rotorcraft was discussed. The first concept is bandwidth, a measure of the dynamic response to control.

The solution supramolecular structure of α2 → 8 polysialic acid suggests a structural cause for its low immunogenicity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
α2 → 8 polysialic acid elicits poor immunogenicity. Small‐angle scattering shows a supramolecular structure with parallel‐chain binding, although in different forms at μm and mm calcium. The major histocompatibility complex requires molecular weights around 2000 Da to produce antibodies, and 2000 Da polysialic oligomers will bind in these structures ...

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

An Analysis of the Mobile Payment Problem in Europe [PDF]

open access: yes
Mobile payment is crucial for, but not limited to mobile commerce. But a role as an established payment system still seems to be a distant prospect for it.

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...
