An asymptomatic, posterior mediastinal mass first appeared in a routine chest X-ray film of a 43-year-old woman. Computed tomography (CT) permitted the diagnosis of intrathoracic kidney to be advanced. Intravenous urography confirmed the CT diagnosis.
