Spontaneous rupture of the renal pyelocaliceal system

open access: yesВестник урологии
Spontaneous rupture of the renal pyelocalyceal system (PCS) is a rare condition that can be challenging to diagnose. Unlike traumatic injuries, this condition is not easily identified based on clinical symptoms, anamnesis, or physical examination findings.

Ultrasound screening for pyelectasis in pregnant women. Clinical necessity or “art for art’s sake”?

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasonography, 2018
Renal pelvicalyceal dilatation is caused by urine retention in the upper urinary tract. It is referred to as pyelectasis in medical literature. This term does not indicate the cause that leads to the dilatation of and urine retention in the renal ...

The role of adrenocortical steroids in reversing established homograft rejection [PDF]

open access: yes, 1964
Renal homotransplantation was performed in 8 dogs. Antirejection therapy with azathioprine (BW 57-322, Imuran) was given in doses of 2 to 7.5 mg. per kilogram per day.

Towards Clinical Translation of Intravoxel Incoherent Motion MRI: Acquisition and Analysis Consensus Recommendations

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) MRI allows for simultaneous assessment of tissue microcirculation (perfusion) and diffusion of water. In single‐center studies, IVIM has shown great potential for diagnosis, treatment outcome prediction, and treatment monitoring for many different diseases and organs.

Patient Dose Optimisation of Abdominopelvic Protocols During X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
This study evaluates organ doses in abdominopelvic radiography for both erect and supine positions, addressing dose optimisation concerns in Ghana. Using CalDose X and thermoluminescence dosimeters, organ doses and image quality were analysed, revealing significant dose reductions with optimised exposure parameters (70 kVp, 10 mAs, 110 cm FDD).

Comparison of Low‐Iodine Concentration Quantification Accuracy and Contrast‐To‐Noise Ratio Across Three Dual‐Energy CT Techniques: A Phantom Study

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, EarlyView.
Using a clinical abdominal CT protocol, all three DECT techniques accurately quantified iodine. Rapid kV‐switching achieved the lowest detectable and quantifiable iodine concentrations, while dual‐layer DECT provided the highest normalised contrast‐to‐noise ratio on 40‐keV virtual monoenergetic images.

LEUKOPLAKIA OF THE KIDNEY PELVIS [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Surgery, 1922
In a former paper on the subject of leukoplakia of the urinary organs, I1reported a case of leukoplakia of the bladder and lower end of the ureter. At that time, a careful review of the literature was made and a brief summary was given of the histories of forty-four cases that I was able to find in the literature at my command, making a total of forty ...

Rapid onset of hypercalcemia from high-grade lymphoma in the setting of HIV-related immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hypercalcemia in HIV patients has been previously reported, but 1,25-(OH)2 vitamin D-mediated hypercalcemia, due to increased activity of extrarenal 1-alpha hydroxylase, is rarely described with HIV-related infections or malignancies.
