SPONTANEOUS RUPTURE OF THE KIDNEY PELVIS

SUMMARY A case of spontaneous rupture of the kidney pelvis due to a large benign papilloma is presented. A search of the literature revealed no report of a similar case. Certain features of the symptoms and signs are discussed, especially the significance of tenderness posteriorly on rectal examination.

[Microsurgery of the kidney pelvis].

In an animal experiment, excellent results were obtained using both microsurgical mucosa and all-layer, single-knot polyglactin (8/0 Vicryl) suture of the ureter. These results motivated clinical use of this microsurgical operative technique on five infants (4-9 months of age) with stenosis of the pelvis outlet.

Examination of the renal pelvis of late fetal and neonatal kidneys shows that in about one quarter of the calyces examined the arrangement is similat to that in the rat, the outer medulla being separated from the calyceal cavity by a very thin epithelium.

[Cholesteatoma of the kidney pelvis in horseshoe kidney].

This paper presents one case of cholesteatoma of the left renal pelvis of a horseshoe kidney. This is quite an unusual process presenting an uncertain etiology and originated from a escamour metaplasia of the urothelium. Diagnosis can be made by X-rays and unlike leukoplasia it is not considered to be a pre-malignant condition.
