Gender and kidney transplantation

open access: yesFrontiers in Nephrology
Kidney transplantation provides the best form of kidney replacement therapy with improvement in quality of life and longevity. However, disparity exists in its availability, utilisation and outcomes, not only due to donor availability or financial constraints but also arising from the influence of biological sex and its sociocultural attribute i.e ...

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Monogenic Kidney Diseases in Kidney Transplantation

open access: yesKidney International Reports
Monogenic kidney diseases are involved in up to 15% of end-stage kidney diseases (ESKDs) in adults, and in 70 % of pediatric patients. When these disorders lead to kidney failure (KF), kidney transplantation (KT) is the preferred mode of replacement therapy.

One‐Step Coordinated Multi‐Kinetic 4D Printing of Human Vascularized Cardiac Tissues with Selective Fast‐Shrinking Capillaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel 4D bioprinting technique for fabricating cardiac tissues with complex microvasculature. Unlike traditional 3D printing, it enables capillary‐scale structure formation via selective post‐printing shrinkage. This approach overcomes resolution limits of printing cell‐laden hydrogels, allowing the creation of functional ...

One‐Step Covalent Biofunctionalization of Tubular Constructs Enabled by Surface‐Embedded Radicals

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Uniform covalent biofunctionalization of tubular constructs is achieved in one step using surface‐embedded radicals generated by a novel plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII) technology. This scalable, solvent‐free technology advances bioengineered tubes for tissue engineering and implant applications.
