Investigating the Cellular Effects of GALC Dosing in Enzyme Replacement Therapy for Krabbe Disease Supports the Role of Nanomedicine

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
A detailed workflow for recombinant GALC production and characterization is presented to support enzyme replacement therapy for Krabbe disease. In vitro assays demonstrate that physiological GALC doses restore enzymatic activity and autophagic flux without affecting cell viability, whereas higher doses impair autophagy and reduce viability.

Glecaprevir/Pibrentasvir Treatment in Liver or Kidney Transplant Patients With Hepatitis C Virus Infection

open access: yesHepatology, 2018
Well‐tolerated, ribavirin‐free, pangenotypic hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatments for transplant recipients remain a high priority. Once‐daily glecaprevir/pibrentasvir demonstrates high rates of sustained virologic response at 12 weeks posttreatment (SVR12)

Joule‐Assisted Nanotherapeutic Urethral Stent (JANUS) for Spatiotemporal Theragenerative Treatment of Urethral Strictures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Joule‐assisted nanotherapeutic urethral stent harnesses a smart, biodegradable magnesium stent to orchestrate spatiotemporal theragenerative therapy for urethral strictures. Magnetically induced Joule heating enables on‐demand drug release and bacterial ablation, while simultaneously guiding urothelial regeneration.

MicroRNAs in kidney transplantation [PDF]

open access: yesNephrology Dialysis Transplantation, 2014
The discovery of novel classes of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) has revolutionized medicine. Long thought to be a mere cellular housekeeper, surprising functions have recently been uncovered. MicroRNAs (miRNAs), are a representative of the class of short ncRNAs, play a fundamental role in the control of DNA and protein biosynthesis and activity as well as ...

Photothermal Hydrogel with Mn3O4 Nanoparticles Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Scavenging ROS and Regulating Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The MPTT‐nanozyme‐hydrogel system (Mn3O4@ChS‐HA) provides a multifunctional therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), effectively targeting oxidative stress and enhancing AF repair by restoring extracellular matrix (ECM) and redox homeostasis.

Combining Sensitive Crossmatch Assays With Donor/Recipient Human Leukocyte Antigen Eplet Matching Predicts Living-Donor Kidney Transplant Outcome

open access: yesKidney International Reports, 2018
Introduction: Despite the different assays available for immune-risk stratification before living-donor kidney transplantation (LDKT), the precise type and number of tests to perform remain uncertain. Methods: In a cohort of 330 consecutive LDKT patients,

Does early removal of Foley’s catheter have any influence on infection of recipient post renal transplantation? Is it safe? A randomized clinical trial [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nephropathology, 2018
Background: Kidney transplant is a fair option for treatment of a chronic renal failure. Although the outcome and results of kidney transplant are good, it may be associated with some complications. One of the important complications is urinary infection.
