Retrospective comparison of the clinical effects of oral semaglutide and SGLT2 inhibitors treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
This retrospective study compared oral semaglutide and SGLT2 inhibitors in patients with type 2 diabetes over 6 months. Both treatments significantly reduced HbA1c, body weight, and fat mass. Although the reduction in fat mass was comparable, changes in skeletal muscle mass tended to be less favorable with SGLT2 inhibitors than with oral semaglutide ...

Expression profile of circular RNAs in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with retinopathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a prevalent chronic complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), contributing significantly to vision impairment. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have emerged as key regulators in the pathogenesis of DR.

Mechanisms of hesperetin in alleviating diabetic nephropathy: Network pharmacology, molecular docking, and experimental validation

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Hesperetin increases cell viability and reduces cell apoptosis, ferroptosis, release of inflammatory cytokines, and oxidative stress of human kidney tubular cells via repressing IGF1R expression. ABSTRACT Background Diabetic nephropathy (DN) accounts for approximately 50% of chronic kidney disease cases.

Effect of Two Therapeutic Renal Diets on Hormonal and Regulatory Pathways Affecting Calcium Homeostasis in Cats With Early‐Stage Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a known risk factor for hypercalcemia in cats. Phosphate‐restricted diets have also been implicated in causing hypercalcemia, in part because phosphate restriction increases the Ca:P ratio. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of two different therapeutic renal foods on ionized (iCa ...

Psychogenic polydipsia in dogs – a review of pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment

open access: yesJournal of Small Animal Practice, EarlyView.
Polyuria and polydipsia represent a common clinical presentation in dogs and may result from numerous disorders affecting different body systems. Compulsive water consumption is characteristic of psychogenic polydipsia, a primary polydipsia disorder rooted in neurologic, behavioural or environmental factors.
