Two Paralogues as They Like It: Conserved and Divergent Evolution of Vertebrate Gcm Genes

open access: yesEvolution &Development, Volume 28, Issue 3, September 2026.
Comparative overview of Gcm1 and Gcm2 paralogues across vertebrates. Gcm2 is conserved in pharyngeal‐derived organs across gnathostomes, whereas Gcm1 shows lineage‐specific diversification from an ancestral pharyngeal context, including secondary loss in teleosts, distinct expression in bichir gills and skin, and broader expression in mammals ...

Antipredatory Strategies of Anurans: An Updated Conceptual Review

open access: yesEthology, Volume 132, Issue 9, Page 662-708, September 2026.
To unravel the evolutionary dynamics of predator–prey interactions, we propose an updated, three‐tiered classification of anuran antipredatory strategies. By mapping non‐behavioral, individual, and group defenses across five functional phases, this integrative framework introduces the concept of synergetic coupling.

MgCBP1 Synergistically Enhances MgENG2‐Mediated Cellulose Degradation to Promote Parasitism in Meloidogyne graminicola

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 9, September 2026.
A cellulose‐binding protein (MgCBP1) and a β‐1,4‐endoglucanase (MgENG2) from Meloidogyne graminicola act synergistically. MgCBP1 binds cellulose, disrupts fibre structure and enhances MgENG2‐mediated cellulose degradation via its cellulose‐binding module. This cooperative action promotes nematode infection, providing the first evidence of CBP–cellulase

Association between initial 30‐day cumulative clozapine dose and risk of agranulocytosis: A nationwide register‐based cohort study

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, Volume 80, Issue 9, Page 765-772, September 2026.
Aims Clozapine‐induced agranulocytosis (CIA) is traditionally considered an idiosyncratic, dose‐independent reaction. However, emerging evidence suggests that clozapine‐related inflammatory events may exhibit dose‐dependent characteristics, leading us to hypothesize that CIA risk may similarly relate to early cumulative exposure.
