PREDICTION OF THE PRIMARY SOURCES OF GIANT CLIPPIR DIAMONDS IN THE NORTH OF YAKUTIA BY THE METHOD OF MINERALOGICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL ANALOGY (METHOD 5E DIAGRAMS)

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика
The finds of giant CLIPPIR-type diamonds in the placers hosted by the Ebelyakh River basin in the north of Yakutia suggest that similar diamonds can be found in the kimberlites of the Anabar region and the nearest northern deposits located within the ...

EXPERIENCE OF USING ELECTRICAL TOMOGRAPHY, RADON SURVEY AND MICROSEISMIC SOUNDING IN SEARCH FOR PIPES CONTROLLED BY FAULT ZONES

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2020
The complex of geophysical methods was successfully applied in the Alakit-Markha kimberlite field of the Yakutsk diamondiferous province. A pipe was identified in the local forecast area specified within the field at the previous stage of prospecting ...

Following kimberlite indicator minerals to source in the Chidliak Kimberlite Province, Nunavut

open access: yes, 2017
The discovery of diamond-bearing kimberlite within the Chidliak kimberlite province on Hall Peninsula, southern Baffin Island, Nunavut, is a classic example of the application of traditional diamond-exploration techniques in a glaciated terrain. To date,

The Deep Structure of the Kimberlite Pipe Volchya in the Arkhangelsk Diamond Province and Controlling Faults Based on Passive Seismic and Radiological Methods (Northwest Russia)

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The successful prospecting of kimberlite pipes is dependent upon a comprehensive understanding of the deep structures of the pipes and the host geological formation. This is a challenging task, given the complex nature of diamond deposits, the small size

Competence and lithostratigraphy of host rocks govern kimberlite pipe morphology

open access: yes, 2018
We use analogue experimentation to test the hypothesis that host rock competence primarily determines the morphology of kimberlite pipes. Natural occurrences of kimberlite pipes are subdivided into three classes: class 1 pipes are steep-sided diatremes ...

Comparative Study of the Kimberlites of Bakwanga (North Group) and Bakwa-Kalonji (South Group) In East Kasai, Democratic Republic of Congo.

open access: yesAnalecta
The presence of kimberlites in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been known since buttgenbach reported a typical ‘yellow ground’ in Katanga as early as 1908, and prospecting work before and after 1914 had already identified twenty-four pipes in ...

Brines in deep horizons of the Udachnaya kimberlite pipe

open access: yesGeodynamics & Tectonophysics, 2018
The study was focused on groundwaters sampled from boreholes drilled to deep horizons of the Udachnaya kimberlite pipe and the host sedimentary strata. Brines in the rocks significantly complicate underground mining. Analysis of the hydrogeological setting is required to ensure safety during mining to the design levels.

The Use of Chemistry of Garnets and Heavy Minerals Around Lalago Kimberlite Pipe in Deciphering Diamond and Non-Diamond Bearing Kimberlite Pipes in Tanzania

open access: yes, 2014
More than three hundred kimberlite pipes have been reported in Tanzania. Only a few are diamond–bearing. A prospecting criteria to outline the diamond and non-diamond bearing kimberlites has been proposed.

MANTLE TERRANES OF THE SIBERIAN CRATON: THEIR INTERACTION WITH PLUME MELTS BASED ON THERMOBAROMETRY AND GEOCHEMISTRY OF MANTLE XENOCRYSTS

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2019
We have studied variations in the structure and composition of minerals from the pipes of the Yakutian kimberlite province (YKP) in different mantle terranes of the Siberian craton.

A comparative geological study of some major kimberlite pipes in the Northern Cape and Orange Free State

open access: yes, 1982
In the first part of this thesis the petrological status of 'kimberlite' is defined and mineralogical and textural classifications which allow systematic documentation and collation of these complex rocks are evaluated.
