Kin

open access: yes, 2020
The project Kin explores our connection to other beings (sentient and otherwise) with the emphasis on the vibrance and agency of all matter. The objective of the project is to expand our perception of self by studying our entangled being-in-the-world using the poetic and artistic to collaborate with and expand on the scientific methods of ...

Methanol‐Ethanol Discrimination and Selective Sensing Enabled by Molecular Sieving in Conductive MOFs

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Selective methanol sensors are achieved by coating carbon nanotube chemiresistors with two dimensional conductive metal–organic frameworks that incorporate intra‐pore clusters. These confined clusters increase the density of adsorption sites while restricting the transport of larger interfering molecules, particularly ethanol. This sensing architecture

A Family of Sodium Solid‐State Electrolytes Based on the NaGaxAl1‐xCl4 Solid Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sodium‐based metal chloride solid electrolytes are promising for sodium solid‐state batteries due to their excellent oxidation stability, which, as shown for Li halides, can coexist with high ionic conductivity. To explore cationic substitution effects, we synthesized NaGaxAl1‐xCl4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) via ball milling and investigated structural and ...

Humorous Field - Field to Humour = 幽默地誌 - 地致幽默

open access: yes, 2016
This is an experiment in spatial humour, and this assumption of humour can be applied to any urban space. Since this project starts with Lingnan University’s support of its Artist-in-Residence Program, it would seem appropriate to base the experiment ...

Record Performance in Vertically Stacked, Solution‐Processed ZTO Schottky Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Schottky diodes based on solution processed sustainable zinc—tin–oxide thin films present an eco‐friendly and versatile alternative to conventional CMOS based technologies. Beyond state‐of‐the‐art performance for vertically stacked solution‐based oxide diodes was achieved, including rectification ratios exceeding nine orders of magnitude, and intrinsic

The formal demography of kinship VII: Lifetime kin overlap within and across generations [PDF]

open access: yesDemographic Research
BACKGROUND: Interactions among kin have important consequences, including resource transfers, allo-parenting, health care, and economic support. Some interactions require that the lives of the interacting relatives overlap.

High‐Power Rapid Laser‐Induced Synthesis of Multi‐functional Cobalt Metal‐Organic Framework With an Unprecedented Synthesis Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Laser‐assisted synthesis enables rapid (within 1 h) and high‐yield (≥90%) production of Co‐MOFs with mesoporous structures, tunable magnetic and optical properties, and efficient adsorption of N2, CH4, and CO2 for low‐energy gas separation. DFT calculations elucidate the electronic structure and adsorption behavior.

Shaping Carbon Nitrides for Advanced Macrostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review examines how carbon nitride can be shaped through a range of printing and interfacial assembly methods. By bringing together additive manufacturing and liquid–liquid structuring concepts, carbon nitride is moving beyond its traditional powder‐based photocatalyst form toward digitally designed robust macroscale architectures with high design

Application of a handheld electronic nose for real-time poultry freshness assessment

open access: yesSensing and Bio-Sensing Research
Meat and fish are the most resource-demanding food products with a high carbon footprint. However, worldwide, tons of meat and fish products that are still safe to consume are discarded as waste due to uncertainty about their freshness.
