Kindi essentially adopts the understanding of creation out of nothing (ex nihilo) and struggles to construct a philosophical basis for this understanding in accordance with Aristotelian and Neo-Platonic principles. Kindi regards God’s creation of the universe in the beginning of the time, before which there was nothing as the most plausible explanation
