The kinematical theory of X-ray spherical-wave diffraction
Acta Crystallographica Section A, 1982It is shown that the Fraunhofer approximation, used in the kinematical theory of X-ray diffraction, may fail for a wide variety of crystals with different perfection. The kinematical theory describing the diffraction pattern in the general case is developed.

Kinematics Prediction by Stokes and Fourier Wave Theories
Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 1990Recent laboratory measurements of wave kinematics indicate that the horizontal velocity under the crest is smaller than that under the trough in the range of intermediate to deep water waves. The mathematically correct fifthâorder Stokes and Fourier wave theories can better predict the measured behavior if a zero uniform coflowing mass transport ...

Darwin spherical-wave theory of kinematic surface diffraction
Acta Crystallographica Section A Foundations of Crystallography, 1995In 1912, von Laue first described X-ray diffraction by approximating as plane waves the spherical waves radiated by atoms in a crystal.

Kinematic wave theory of catchment response with storage
Journal of Hydrology, 1982Abstract A catchment response model is proposed on the basis of storage and channel elements which may be linear or non-linear. It is assumed that rainfall excess immediately enters off-channel storage elements within the catchment before being transferred to channel elements.

Kinematic-wave theory of sedimentation beneath inclined walls
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1982The two-phase flow in settling vessels with walls that are inclined to the vertical is investigated. By neglecting inertial effects and the viscosity of the suspension i t is shown that the particle concentration remains constant on kinematic-wave fronts.

Wave Theory Predictions of Crest Kinematics
1990In much of the practice of coastal and ocean engineering, the question of which wave theory to use has been largely of academic interest. Consideration of shallow water and/or higher order wave theories has been complicated by the relative inaccessibility of these theories.

Use of kinematic wave theory to model irrigation on cracking soil
Irrigation Science, 1997Border irrigation in Australia is characterised by excessive run-off and variable water use efficiencies. This paper discusses an analytical irrigation model that, because of its simplicity, represents a tool for improving water management in border irrigation.

Kinematical interaction in the spin wave theory for isotropic ferromagnetics (I)
physica status solidi (b), 1962AbstractCorrections are derived for kinematical interaction in DYSON's ideal spin wave system in an isotropic cubic ferromagnetic.

Projected spin wave theory. I. Diagrammatic evaluation of the kinematical interaction
Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1985The evaluation at T=0 of the kinematical effects in the spin wave theory for S=1/2 Heisenberg ferro- and antiferromagnets has been achieved, projecting out the nonphysical magnonic contribution following Herbert's method. Moreover, the projected average value has been generalised to any operator and extended to any number of projection operators by ...

Kinematic wave theory of bottlenecks of varying capacity
Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 1956ABSTRACTThis paper discusses a problem in traffic flow by the method of kinematic waves developed by Lighthill and Whitham(1,2). The theory of kinematic waves introduced by Lighthill and Whitham has been extended here to include the case when the flow q varies with the time, and it is seen that the expression for the wave velocity is of the same form ...
