Long surface wave instability in dense granular flows [PDF]
In this paper we present an experimental study of the long surface wave instability that can develop when a granular material flows down a rough inclined plane.

Evaluation of the Horizontal Wave Forces on Piles
Reliability of offshore platforms is an important issue in the prevention of environmental disasters. In this paper, the variation of the horizontal force exerted on an offshore gravity platform is analyzed to achieve a deep comprehension of a storm ...

On the variational theory of traffic flow: well-posedness, duality and applications
This paper describes some simplifications allowed by thevariational theory of traffic flow(VT). It presents generalconditions guaranteeing that the solution of a VT problem withbottlenecks exists, is unique and makes physical sense; i.e., thatthe problem

Newton's Method to Determine Fourier Coefficients and Wave Properties for Deep Water Waves
Since Chappelear developed a Fourier approximation method, considerable research efforts have been made. On the other hand, Fourier approximations are unsuitable for deep water waves.

Free vibration of rotating graphene-reinforced laminated composite conical shells
The free vibration behaviors of rotating laminated composite conical shells reinforced with graphene sheets are investigated. Refined Halpin-Tsai micromechanical approach and Donnell shell theory are used for material properties and kinematic relations ...

Non-relativistic pair annihilation of nearly mass degenerate neutralinos and charginos II. P-wave and next-to-next-to-leading order S-wave coefficients [PDF]
This paper is a continuation of an earlier work (arXiv:1210.7928) which computed analytically the tree-level annihilation rates of a collection of non-relativistic neutralino and chargino two-particle states in the general MSSM.

Theory of Spike Spiral Waves in a Reaction-Diffusion System
We discovered a new type of spiral wave solutions in reaction-diffusion systems --- spike spiral wave, which significantly differs from spiral waves observed in FitzHugh-Nagumo-type models.

Nonlinearity in a dynamo [PDF]
Using a rotating flat layer heated from below as an example, we consider effects which lead to stabilizing an exponentially growing magnetic field in magnetostrophic convection in transition from the kinematic dynamo to the full non-linear dynamo.

The Hamiltonian Approach to Yang-Mills (2+1): An Expansion Scheme and Corrections to String Tension
We carry out further analysis of the Hamiltonian approach to Yang-Mills theory in 2+1 dimensions which helps to place the calculation of the vacuum wave function and the string tension in the context of a systematic expansion scheme.

This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.
