An Analytical Study of Tsunamis Generated by Submarine Landslides
In this work, the problem of tsunamis generated by underwater landslides is addressed. Two new solutions are derived in the framework of the linear shallow water equations and linear potential wave theory, respectively. Those solutions are analytical (1 +

Gaussian beam migration in exploration seismology: methods, advantages and implementation
Migration methods are fundamental to seismic imaging. Generally, seismic migration imaging methods can be categorized in pre-stack and post-stack techniques that are based on either wave-equation or ray-theory principles.

Sliding of till over bedrock: scratching, polishing, comminution and kinematic-wave theory [PDF]
The observed ratio of removal of material by (i) scratches gouged by large clasts and (ii) polishing by debris suggests that the latter is the dominant form of bedrock erosion. We examine this with a multi-stage breakdown model of glacial debris, which includes active erosion by fines. These models suggest that a mother clast can, through the action of

A Variational Formulation of Kinematic Wave Theory [PDF]
This paper proves that kinematic wave (KW) problems with concave (or convex) equations of state can be formulated as calculus of variations problems. Every well-posed problem of this type, no matter how complicated, is reduced to the determination of a shortest tree in a relevant region of spacetime where cost is predefined. A duality between KW theory

Random water wave kinematics, pt .1, Theory
This paper presents the theoretical development of stochastic properties for orbital velocities of random water waves in intermediate water depth. Both emergence effect and weak nonlinear effects are studied. An analytic formula for probability distribution for velocities modified by the emergence effect, as well as by non-linearities of the wave ...
