The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Kinetic energy driven superconductivity, the origin of the Meissner effect, and the reductionist frontier

open access: yes, 2011
Is superconductivity associated with a lowering or an increase of the kinetic energy of the charge carriers? Conventional BCS theory predicts that the kinetic energy of carriers increases in the transition from the normal to the superconducting state ...

Kinetic Inflation in Stringy and Other Cosmologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
An inflationary epoch driven by the kinetic energy density in a dynamical Planck mass is studied. In the conformally related Einstein frame it is easiest to see the demands of successful inflation cannot be satisfied by kinetic inflation alone. Viewed in

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Comparison of Muscle Thickness and Changing Ratio for Cervical Flexor Muscles During the Craniocervical Flexion Test Between Subjects With and Without Forward Head Posture

open access: yesPhysical Therapy Korea, 2022
Background: The craniocervical flexion test (CCFT) was developed for the activation and en-durance of deep cervical flexors. However, the muscle thickness and muscle thickness chang-ing ratio of the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) and deep cervical flexor (DCF)

Spin diffusion and relaxation in three-dimensional isotropic Heisenberg antiferromagnets

open access: yes, 1998
A theory is proposed for kinetic effects in isotropic Heisenberg antiferromagnets at temperatures above the Neel point. A metod based on the analysis of a set of Feynman diagrams for the kinetic coefficients is developed for studying the critical ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Kinetic Energy Density Study of Some Representative Semilocal Kinetic Energy Functionals

open access: yes, 2007
There is a number of explicit kinetic energy density functionals for non-interacting electron systems that are obtained in terms of the electron density and its derivatives. These semilocal functionals have been widely used in the literature.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Enhancing cognitive combat readiness: Gamers’ Behaviours concentrating on convergent learning style, tacit-latent, and kinetic-active knowledge acquisitions

open access: yesFrontiers in Education, 2022
This study investigates gamers’ learning styles and knowledge acquisition behavioural patterns. It argues that gamers usually have different characteristics transforming themselves to gain distinctive competencies.
