Simply conceiving the Arrhenius law and absolute kinetic constants using the geometric distribution

open access: yes, 2013
Although first-order rate constants are basic ingredients of physical chemistry, biochemistry and systems modeling, their innermost nature is derived from complex physical chemistry mechanisms.

Heavy-Light Decay Constants: Conclusions from the Wilson Action [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We report on the results of a MILC collaboration calculation of $f_B$, $f_{B_s}$, $f_D$, $f_{D_s}$ and their ratios. We discuss the most important errors in more detail than we have elsewhere.Comment: LATTICE98(heavyqk) 3 latex pages and 3 postscript ...

Effects of Biological Sex and Age on Cerebrospinal Fluid Markers—A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is a key diagnostic tool for neurological diseases. To date, only a few studies have investigated in larger cohorts the effect of age and biological sex on diagnostic markers extracted from CSF. Methods For this retrospective observational study, 4163 CSF findings (2012–2020) were evaluated.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Kinetic analysis of monomolecular cracking of normal Alkanes (C4C6) over Brønsted Acid site of Zeolitic type catalyst with energetic evaluation of transition states using Quantum-Chemical modeling

open access: yesFuel Communications
The work aims to determine the kinetic parameters of reactions for production of light olefins via catalytic cracking reactions of C4–C6 n-alkanes based on the energy characteristics of the transition state using quantum chemical calculations.

Kinetic Concepts for Measuring Microbial Rate Constants: Effects of Nutrients on Rate Constants [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1986
We investigated the effect of preincubation of environmental waters amended with inorganic nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, and traces of iron and magnesium) on the kinetics of the microbial transformation of phenol, propanil, propyl ester of (2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid, methyl parathion, Ronnel, and methoxychlor in pond and river waters.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Evaluation of biodegradation kinetic constants for aromatic compounds by means of aerobic batch experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Kinetics of aerobic biodegradation have been investigated for twenty aromatic species using sludges collected from the aeration basin of municipal sewage treatment plants. The reproducibility of the results is tested with respect to the sludges period of
