Kinetic Energy and Complementary Kinetic Energy in Gyrodynamics

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1993
The concepts of kinetic energy and complementary kinetic energy permit to distinguish between two different formulations of what happens to be the same quantity in Newtonian mechanics. These formulations turn out to play a significant role in gyrodynamics in that they can be used very effectively to establish fundamental equations.

Kinetic Energies in Quantum Solids

Physical Review Letters, 1985
We show that the recently measured kinetic energy of atoms in solid helium is substantially larger than expected for even a moderately anharmonic solid. The large kinetic energy is rather an explicit measure of the highly anharmonic nature of solid helium.

Nonlocal kinetic-energy-density functionals

Physical Review B, 1996
In this paper we present nonlocal kinetic-energy functionals T[n] within the average density approximation (ADA) framework, which do not require any extra input when applied to any electron system and recover the exact kinetic energy and the linear response function of a homogeneous system.

Particle Kinetics: Energy

1997
As a youngster, you may have visited an amusement park where you were captivated by the variety of entertainment, diversions, rides, and contests. You may have since wondered about the engineering marvels ranging from the stupefying Ninga challenge roller coaster to the pleasurable Ferris wheel.

Kinetic energy absorber

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1984
A device for absorbing kinetic energy derived from an element oscillating in a direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the device. The device has a housing coupled to the oscillating member and defining a chamber bounded by opposite inner end walls and an inner lateral wall of the housing.

Ion kinetic energy spectrometry

International Journal of Mass Spectrometry and Ion Physics, 1974
The principles upon which accurate measurements of kinetic energy of kilovolt ions are based are illustrated, and the design of an instrument for focusing the ions formed by reactions in a field-free region is described. Reactions that have been studied include spontaneous decompositions as well as charge-stripping, charge-exchange and charge ...

Kinetic Energy Methods

1977
Problems in which turbulent flow fields dominate form a major portion of engineering fluid mechanics and heat transfer work. In principle, the calculation of these flows involves the solution of the time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations. But these equations cannot be solved without recourse to numerical methods, which must divide the flow field into a
