Kinetic isotope effects and how to describe them [PDF]
We review several methods for computing kinetic isotope effects in chemical reactions including semiclassical and quantum instanton theory. These methods describe both the quantization of vibrational modes as well as tunneling and are applied to the ⋅H + H2 and ⋅H + CH4 reactions.

Isotope engineering achieved by local coordination design in Ti-Pd co-doped ZrCo-based alloys
Deuterium/Tritium (D/T) handling in defined proportions are pivotal to maintain steady-state operation for fusion reactors. However, the hydrogen isotope effect in metal-hydrogen systems always disturbs precise D/T ratio control.

Stable carbon isotope ratios of toluene in the boundary layer and the lower free troposphere [PDF]
During the field campaign ZEPTER-2 in autumn 2008 whole air samples were collected on board a Zeppelin NT airship in the planetary boundary layer (PBL) and the lower free troposphere (LFT) over south-west Germany using the ZEppelin Based Isotope Sampler (

A Cu/Ag‐Cu bilayer tandem catalyst is designed for a pyramid‐structured p‐Si photocathode, creating multiple and functionally distinct interfaces tailored to specific reaction steps and intermediate stabilization. This Cu/Ag‐Cu‐decorated p‐Si photocathode exhibits both high photocurrent and good selectivity for photoelectrochemical CO2 reduction to CH4.

Stable carbon isotope discrimination by human 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase
The aim of this study was to investigate the possible existence and magnitude of stable carbon isotope discrimination by human 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGR). The catalytic portion of HMGR was expressed and purified.

Fluorinated graphene has opened new opportunities for real‐world applications; however, its working and thermal stability are key issues for practical use. This study successfully demonstrates the stability of a fluorinated graphene‐based photodetector, achieved through a graphene, fluorinated graphene heterostructure (Gr/F‐Gr HS).

Bis-allylic Deuterated DHA Alleviates Oxidative Stress in Retinal Epithelial Cells
Oxidative stress plays a crucial role in developing and accelerating retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, C22:6, n-3), the main lipid constituent of retinal epithelial cell membranes, is highly ...
