Toxicological Assessment of Key Substances in UV-Curable Nail Coatings: HEMA, TMPTA, TPO, HQ, and MEHQ

open access: yesMedžiagotyra
UV-curable nail coatings have gained widespread popularity due to their superior durability, gloss, and fast-curing properties. However, the use of (meth)acrylate monomers, photoinitiators, and inhibitors in these products raises concerns regarding ...

Interfacial Reaction Kinetics

open access: yes, 1999
We study irreversible A-B reaction kinetics at a fixed interface separating two immiscible bulk phases, A and B. We consider general dynamical exponent $z$, where $x_t\sim t^{1/z}$ is the rms diffusion distance after time $t$.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Circulating small extracellular vesicles increase after an acute bout of moderate-intensity exercise in pregnant compared to non-pregnant women

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
The physiological and molecular mechanisms linking prenatal physical activity and improvements in maternal–fetal health are unknown. It is hypothesized that small extracellular vesicles (EVs, ~ 10–120 nm) are involved in tissue cross-talk during exercise.

Fundamental electrode kinetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Report presents the fundamentals of electrode kinetics and the methods used in evaluating the characteristic parameters of rapid-charge transfer processes at electrode-electrolyte interfaces. The concept of electrode kinetics is outlined, followed by the

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Exploring women’s experiences participating in yoga after a cancer diagnosis: a protocol for a meta-synthesis

open access: yesSystematic Reviews, 2022
Background The benefits of yoga for clinical and non-clinical populations have been summarized in published systematic reviews. The vast majority of systematic reviews on the topic are syntheses of quantitative research that evaluated the effects of yoga.
