Induction of Polyploidy by Kinetin in Triturus viridescens
Nature, 1964IN 1962 Buckley, Witkus and Berger1 reported that kinetin induced mitotic divisions throughout the digestive tract of the salamander, Triturus viridescens. It was also reported that these were diploid divisions. The effect followed exposure for 9 days to kinetin and was most evident in the duodenum.

The inhibition of kohlrabi chloroplast degeneration by kinetin
Protoplasma, 1973Detached kohlrabi leaves of late autumn material yellowed completely after 6 days in weak light. This process was accompanied by a decrease in chlorophyll, protein, and ribonucleic acid levels. In the chloroplasts, degeneration symptoms such as reduction in chloroplast volume, the decay of grana, development of the long thylakoid system, disappearance ...

Therapeutic Effect of Kinetin on Tobacco Alternariosis
Nature New Biology, 1972LESIONS produced by Alternaris tenuis on tobacco leaves consist of fungal invaded, necrotic centres surrounded by well demarcated, non-invaded, chlorotic haloes1,2, though necrosis does occur without chlorosis following infection of leaves in advanced senescence3.

Abstract We have tested the possible genesis of kinetin from a 2′-deoxyadenylate unit of DNA by a chemical route involving a head-to-tail transfer of deoxyribose from the 9 to the 3 position of the adenine nucleus via a cyclonucleoside, with subsequent elimination of 1′- and 3′-polar groups and 3 → N 6 intramolecular rearrangement leading to ...

Estimation of Kinetin by a Colorimetric Method
Nature, 1967ALTHOUGH extinction coefficient data are available for 6-furfuryl-amino purine (kinetin)1 it is not always possible to use these in its estimation. During investigations of the metabolism of kinetin in plant tissue we have found that interference by ultra-violet absorbing contaminants prevents the direct spectrophotometric assay of this compound in the
