Cytokinin-induced decrease in ribonuclease activity and initiation of gametophore buds in the protonema of mosses

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2015
As early as after 4 hours of kinetin treatment a decrease in RNase activity was found in the moss protonema and it was maintained to at least 10 hours. It was shown that this decrease was correlated with the morphogenetic effect of kinetin (bud induction)

Kinetin and Gibberellin Actions on Abscission Processes [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1964
Abscission can be considered to be a consequence of aging of leaves. A number of investigations have shown that protein breakdown occurs during senescence of leaves and there is a resulting flow of nonprotein nitrogen to the petiole (4, 7, 11, 14).

The binding of kinetin to plant ribosomes [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1970
The synthetic cytokinins kinetin and 6-benzylaminopurine exhibit equilibrium-type binding to purified chinese-cabbage leaf ribosomes. At 23μm and 4°C one molecule of kinetin and 1.34 molecules of 6-benzylaminopurine are bound per ribosome. Adenine and adenine derivatives that are inactive as cytokinins showed much less affinity for ribosomes ...

Interaction of PINK1 with nucleotides and kinetin

open access: yesScience Advances, 2023
The ubiquitin kinase PINK1 accumulates on damaged mitochondria to trigger mitophagy, and PINK1 loss-of-function mutations cause early onset Parkinson’s disease. Nucleotide analogs such as kinetin triphosphate (KTP) were reported to enhance PINK1 activity and may represent a therapeutic strategy for the treatment of Parkinson’s ...

Oligohistidine‐Functionalized Single‐Walled Carbon Nanotube‐Guided RNA Delivery to Improve Shoot Regeneration Efficiency in Plant Calli

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 6, 19 January 2026.
The pH‐sensitive His6‐SWNTs, which is functionalized with oligohistidine, can deliver STTM396 molecules into callus cells. The STTM396–SWNT complex treatments enhance shoot regeneration efficiency by regulating the miR396‐GRF module in Arabidopsis and tomato calli.

The optimization of crop response to climatic stress through modulation of plant stress response mechanisms. Opportunities for biostimulants and plant hormones to meet climate challenges.

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 1, Page 130-151, January 2026.
Summary This review discusses the use of agronomic management practices to enhance crop stress resilience to climate stress through the modulation of natural plant growth regulatory pathways. The use of biostimulants or plant hormones to improve crop resilience is subject to strict regulatory oversight if changes in the regulation of plant growth are ...

Endogenous levels of reducing sugars, free amino acids and phenols during various stages of in vitro culture of cotton (Gossypium Spp.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Somatic embryogenesis is widely preferred as the regeneration route for in vitro studies in cotton. However, the regeneration efficiency through this approach is low; a problem that is believed to be as a result of the biochemical properties of the ...

High yield production of the antifungal proteins PeAfpA and PdAfpB by vacuole targeting in a TMV‐based expression vector

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, Page 313-327, January 2026.
Summary Antifungal proteins (AFPs) derived from filamentous fungi show great potential against economically significant fungi that cause plant diseases and consequently threat food safety and security. This study focuses on the Penicillium expansum PeAfpA and Penicillium digitatum PdAfpB proteins and their activity against several phytopathogens.
