Genetic analysis for sooty mold resistance and heart of palm yield in Archontophoenix

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2004
Archontophoenix palms, utilized both as ornamental species and as a source of high-quality heart of palm, are susceptible to sooty mold, a disease coupled with aphid infestation, which affects photosynthesis and causes unpleasant, darkish palm appearance.

Dispersal and delimitation: Phylogenomics of Connaraceae prompts revised generic delimitation in Cnestideae and reveals global biogeographic patterns

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract The tempo and mode of assembly of the world's most diverse, tropical floras remain poorly known. Evolutionary relationships within pantropical plant clades such as Connaraceae (Oxalidales, ca. 220 species) offer an opportunity to address this issue.

Devolved Invisibility: Identity and Belonging Among Latin American Communities in Scotland

open access: yesBulletin of Latin American Research, Volume 45, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT In a nation known for welcoming migrants and its history of transnational solidarity but marked by colonial amnesia, this article addresses the research gap on Latin American communities in Scotland. It focuses on first‐generation migrants who settled in Scotland in the 21st century, examining how they negotiate identity and belonging against ...

The genome and stage‐specific transcriptomes of the carrot weevil, Listronotus oregonensis, reveal adaptive mechanisms for host specialisation and symbiotic interactions

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 126-138, April 2026.
Comprehensive genome and stage‐specific transcriptomes reveal 14,637 genes in Listronotus oregonensis, advancing genetic insights into a key agricultural pest. Compared with related species, L. oregonensis exhibits reduced chemoreceptor gene families but expanded detoxification gene clusters, reflecting its narrow host range and adaptability.

Assessing Subseasonal Predictions of Stratosphere‐Troposphere Coupling of GraphCast

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 6, 28 March 2026.
Abstract The rapid development of artificial intelligence weather forecasting models (AIWFMs) has revolutionized weather prediction. GraphCast, a leading AIWFM, outperforms state‐of‐the‐art physics‐based numerical models at the surface and in the lower troposphere.
