Adequate timing for heart-of-palm harvesting in King palm [PDF]

open access: yesHorticultura Brasileira, 2001
Heart-of-palm, palm heart, or "palmito" can be considered as a non-conventional vegetable, largely consumed in Brazil and exported to more than sixty countries. Timing of heart-of-palm harvesting is a critical issue in palmito agribusiness, since it affects yield, quality and costs.

Low density polyethylene composites reinforced with Australian King Palm fibers: mechanical and thermal properties [PDF]

open access: yesPolymer Bulletin, 2017
The aim of this work is to obtain and evaluate the mechanical and thermal properties of low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) composites reinforced with fibers from Australian King Palm fibers. Raw fibers were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy.

Chemical composition of flours made of residues from the king palm (Archontophoenix alexandrae) industry [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2009
Residues from King palm (Archontophoenix alexandrae) processing were used for the production of flours, which were then chemically characterized. The protein content in these flours ranged from 3.62 to 9.75 g/100g and was higher in sifted leaf flour (SLF). The dietary fiber contents varied from 64 to 72 g/100g.

Development and Validation of Innovative Machine Learning Models for Predicting Date Palm Mite Infestation on Fruits

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
The date palm mite (DPM), Oligonychus afrasiaticus (McGregor), is a key pest of unripe date fruits. The detection of this mite depends largely on the visual observations of the webs it produces on the green fruits.

Effects of Pollination Interventions, Plant Age and Source on Hormonal Patterns and Fruit Set of Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.)

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2021
Date palm is widely propagated through conventional offshoots. It is also produced through a tissue culture technique due to the limited number of offshoots produced throughout the course of a palm’s life.
