Combined Semianalytical and Numerical Static Plate Analysis. Part 1: Formulation of the Problem and Approximation Models

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The distinctive paper is devoted to solution of multipoint (particularly, two-point) boundary problem of plate analysis (Kirchhoff model) based on combined application of finite element method (FEM) and discrete-continual finite element method (DCFEM ...

Three-dimensional flat shell-to-shell coupling: numerical challenges

open access: yesCurved and Layered Structures, 2017
The node-to-surface formulation is widely used in contact simulations with finite elements because it is relatively easy to implement using different types of element discretizations.

Active cloaking of finite defects for flexural waves in elastic plates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a new method to create an active cloak for a rigid inclusion in a thin plate, and analyse flexural waves within such a plate governed by the Kirchhoff plate equation.

Surface Plasmon Enhanced Photoluminescence of Carbon Dots Formed In Situ on Silver Gratings

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carbon emitters formed in situ on a silver grating via plasmonic catalysis yield enhanced spontaneous emission by preferential radiative decay into surface plasmons. Enhancement manifests as emission exhibiting characteristics of coherence (polarization, directionality), and accelerated lifetimes of ∼30 ps, yielding Purcell factors of ∼70.

Terahertz Channel Modeling, Estimation and Localization in RIS‐Assisted Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces have become a recent intensive research focus. Based on practical applications, channel strategies for RIS‐assisted terahertz wireless communication systems are categorized into three different types: channel modeling, channel estimation, and channel localization.

Delamination of Composite Laminate Plate by Sliding Load Mode

open access: yesTransactions of the VŠB: Technical University of Ostrava, Civil Engineering Series, 2017
The paper presents the mixed-mode delamination response of laminate plate made of two sublaminates. To this purpose a sliding load mode of delamination is proposed as failure model.

A Novel Milli‐Scale Magnetic Robot Exploiting Rotation for Controlled Magnetic Particles Release

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Delivering magnetic particles can become a game changer in minimally invasive medicine. To cope with this challenge, a magnetically actuated milli‐scale carrier leveraging rotation to perform on‐demand tunable release of magnetic particles across multiple release events is presented.

Thermochromic Radiative Cooling Coatings with Robust Superhydrophobicity for Energy‐Efficient Buildings

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A scalable, color‐adaptive radiative cooling coating is developed to enable dynamic spectral regulation via a reversible thermochromic transition at ~45 °C and a high solar reflectance of 91.7%. The coating achieves 4.44 °C outdoor sub‐ambient cooling while providing robust superhydrophobicity and environmental durability through its micro/nano ...

Investigating Effect of Using Piezoelectric layers on the Forced Vibration of Circular Plates [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2012
This deals with the harmonic forced vibration of a circular plate surface bonded by two piezoelectric layers, based on the Kirchhoff plate model. The form of electric potential field in the piezoelectric layer is assumed such that the Maxwell static ...
