An Inverse Problem for the Plate in the Love–Kirchhoff Theory
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1993Summary: This paper studies an inverse boundary value problem for the equation of the flexure of the linear, inhomogeneous, isotropic, thin plate in the context of the Love-Kirchhoff theory. It is shown that the Young modulus \(E\) and the Poisson ratio \(\nu\) of the material forming the plate can be determined by the Dirichlet-to-Neumann map, the ...

Abstract In this paper, we present a modified Kirchhoff theory for analyzing thermo-mechanical static and buckling responses of functionally graded material (FGM) isotropic and sandwich plates. In comparison to the classical Kirchhoff theory, the proposed method is taken account into the shear deformation effects, then it can be applied for both ...

Intrinsic formulation of the Kirchhoff–Love theory of nonlinearly elastic plates
Mathematics and Mechanics of Solids, 2022The classical Kirchhoff–Love theory of a nonlinearly elastic plate provides a way to compute the deformation of such a plate subjected to given applied forces and boundary conditions by solving the Euler–Lagrange equation associated with a specific minimization problem, whose unknown is the displacement field of the middle surface of the plate.
