Isolated olecranon fractures in children affected by osteogenesis imperfecta type I treated with single screw or tension band wiring system: outcomes and pitfalls in relation to bone mineral density [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The purpose of this study is to compare the results of 2 techniques, tension band wiring (TBW) and fixation with screws, in olecranon fractures in children affected with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) type I.

Intrapelvic Migration of a Kirschner Wire

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Medical Association, 2005
Intrapelvic migration of a Kirschner wire, used in the treatment of hip fracture, is rare. We report a case of intrapelvic migration of a Kirschner wire 10 years after its placement. Even though the patient was asymptomatic, we proceeded to remove the migrated wire using laparoscopic techniques.

Contralateral migration of Kirschner wire from right acromioclavicular joint to left side of neck: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2019
Background Kirschner wire migration is one of the most common complications after internal fixation of fracture or dislocation in the shoulder region. However, cases of contralateral wire migration are rare.

A rare case of an isolated traumatic cuboid dislocation treated with a novel technique

open access: yesFoot & Ankle Surgery: Techniques, Reports & Cases, 2023
Complete cuboid dislocation without cuboid fracture are rare injuries and there is a paucity of literature describing their management. Previous studies have reported on the use of closed reduction casting, internal fixation, and Kirschner wire fixation ...

Influence of approach and implant on reduction accuracy and stability in Lisfranc fracture-dislocation at the tarsometatarsal joint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Besides early diagnosis, an anatomical and stable reduction is paramount for obtaining a favorable outcome. The current study looked at the influence that the type of approach for tarsometatarsal injuries has on the accuracy of the reduction ...

A Spin-Mechanical Device for Detection and Control of Spin Current by Nanomechanical Torque

open access: yes, 2004
We propose a spin-mechanical device to control and detect spin currents by mechanical torque. Our hybrid nano-electro-mechanical device, which contains a nanowire with a ferromagnetic-nonmagnetic interface, is designed to measure or induce spin polarized

Percutaneous leverage reduction with two Kirschner wires combined with the Métaizeau technique versus open reduction plus internal fixation with a single Kirschner-wire for treating Judet IV radial neck fractures in children

open access: yesJournal of International Medical Research, 2019
Objective To compare the clinical effectiveness of a novel approach, percutaneous leverage reduction using two Kirschner-wires (k-wires) combined with the Métaizeau technique, versus open reduction plus internal fixation with k-wire for the treatment of ...
