Robustness and Related Concepts for Climate Adaptation in Drinking Water Treatment Systems

open access: yesAWWA Water Science, Volume 7, Issue 1, January/February 2025.
ABSTRACT Climate change intensifies extreme weather events, potentially posing significant challenges to the quality and quantity of surface water available for drinking water treatment. Quantifying and substantiating a treatment system's capacity and vulnerability in handling a range of raw water conditions is crucial for preparing for future climate ...

A Relative Measurement of Oxidative Stress in NAFLD Through Cyclic Voltammetry Method for Clinical Translation

open access: yesGastroenterology Research and Practice, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
A potential contributing factor in the development of various metabolic diseases such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) could be oxidative stress and the production of reactive oxygen radicals. A high level of lipid peroxidation, including oxidative stress, can cause irreversible effects.

Unraveling the Gut–Liver–Brain Axis: Microbiome, Inflammation, and Emerging Therapeutic Approaches

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The gut–liver–brain axis (GLB axis) plays a crucial role in maintaining metabolic, immune, and neurological homeostasis. The gut microbiota influences systemic health through its metabolites, including short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), bile acids (BAs), and tryptophan (Trp) derivatives, which regulate immune function, lipid metabolism, and ...

Topographical changes in extracellular matrix during skin fibrosis and recovery can be evaluated using automated image analysis algorithms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 598, Issue 24, Page 2995-3004, December 2024.
Topographical changes in the extracellular matrix occur during skin fibrosis and reversal and can be quantified using image analysis algorithms. Collagen fiber alignment is diminished and endpoints are increased during the onset of fibrosis, suggesting changes in matrix quality that are restored in the reversible model.
