Klatskin tumors and Klatskin mimicking lesions of the biliary tree

European Journal of Surgical Oncology (EJSO), 2003
We report on the preoperative capability of imaging modalities and clinical assessment to differentiate between Klatskin tumors and Klatskin mimicking lesions of the biliary tree. Adenocarcinomas of the hepatic ducts (Klatskin tumors) mimic benign fibrosing cholangitis. Extensive resections carry a substantial risk but offer the only chance for cure in

Sonographic diagnosis of Klatskin tumors

American Journal of Roentgenology, 1986
The sonograms of 14 patients with pathologically proven Klatskin tumors presenting between 1974 and 1985 were reviewed. All 14 patients demonstrated dilated intrahepatic bile ducts with a normal-sized extrahepatic biliary tree. In seven patients this was the only finding. The other seven patients demonstrated one or more additional abnormalities. These

Human Pathology, 1998
Mutagenesis of the p53 tumor-suppressor gene represents the most common genetic alteration in human malignancies but has not yet been investigated in Klatskin tumors. Cancerous and normal liver tissues were obtained from 12 patients after surgical resection of Klatsin tumors.
