Seven days of warm‐water immersion enhances resting irisin and BDNF, but not klotho, in older men

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract We examined whether seven consecutive days of warm‐water immersion could elevate resting and exercise‐induced levels of brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), irisin and klotho in older adults. These biomarkers support cognitive and metabolic health, but their levels decline with age.

Sterilization of a Biological Safety Cabinet by Vaporized KMT Reagent

open access: yesBiocontrol Science, 2007
To investigate effective methods to sterilize a biological safety cabinet contaminated with Bacillus spores, a sterilization study was performed using the vaporized KMT reagent. Five kinds of test carriers inoculated with Bacillus subtilis spores, which had been prepared in-house, were used as indicators. The KMT reagent was placed in the middle of the

The Secret (Mitotic) Life of Clathrin

open access: yesTraffic, Volume 27, Issue 3, September 2026.
A perspective on the function of clathrin at the mitotic spindle during cell division. ABSTRACT The discovery of clathrin was a foundational event in membrane traffic research. Its identification as the major protein component of the coat that surrounds endocytic vesicles kickstarted the biochemical and molecular characterization of endocytosis. During

Yin Yang 1 Specifically Supports the Development of Olig2 Positive Cerebellar Astrocytes

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 8, August 2026.
Cerebellar Olig2 positive astrocytes are most abundant in the cerebellar nuclei. Cerebellar astrocytes expressing Olig2 have unique gene expression profiles. Yin Yang 1 specifically supports the development of astrocytes expressing Olig2. Deletion of YY1 during development increases numbers of astrocytes expressing Olig2 but hinders their ...
