Elbow and knee joint for hard space suits [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
An elbow or knee joint for a hard space suit or similar usage is formed of three serially connected rigid sections which have truncated spherical configurations. The ends of each section form solid geometric angles, and the sections are interconnected by

“The Superficial Quad Technique” for Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction: The Surgical Video Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2015
With the introduction of the superficial quad technique, there has been a recent revival of interest in the quadriceps tendon as a graft choice for medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction.

Structure, Mechanics, and Mechanobiology of Fibrocartilage Pericellular Matrix Mediated by Type V Collagen

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study defines the structure, mechanics, and mechanobiology of the fibrocartilage pericellular matrix (PCM) using the murine meniscus, showing how collagen V deficiency alters PCM properties and disrupts cell mechanosensitive signaling. Findings emphasize the critical role of PCM in fibrocartilage mechanobiology and suggest targeting it can enhance

Constructing Ion‐Bridging Structure with Controlled Cracks in Plasticized PVC with Graphene for Highly Sensitive Strain Sensor with a Wide Strain Range

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A highly stretchable strain sensor is presented, that leverages controlled crack formation and ion bridging in a polyvinyl chloride gel/graphene to achieve exceptional sensitivity (gauge factor up to 1.5 × 10⁶) and mechanical stability. By optimizing plasticizer properties, the conductive pathways are finely tuned, enabling robust, real‐time monitoring

Joint Mobilization Enhances Mechanisms of Conditioned Pain Modulation in Individuals With Osteoarthritis of the Knee.

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy, 2016
STUDY DESIGN An experimental laboratory study with a repeated-measures crossover design. BACKGROUND Treatment effects of joint mobilization may occur in part by decreasing excitability of central nociceptive pathways.

Stryker Osteonics: Prosthetic Knee Joint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We examine, within a simple bearing model of a knee joint that only consideres pure sliding, the effect of the presence of a small vertical hole in the load area on the fluid film properties.

Chondrocalcinosis is common in the absence of knee involvement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Introduction: We aimed to describe the distribution of radiographic chondrocalcinosis (CC) and to examine whether metacarpophalangeal joint (MCPJ) calcification and CC at other joints occurs in the absence of knee involvement.

Eosinophils‐Induced Lumican Secretion by Synovial Fibroblasts Alleviates Cartilage Degradation via the TGF‐β Pathway Mediated by Anxa1 Binding

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Eosinophils play a crucial role in the progression of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA). This study demonstrates that eosinophils, induced by OVA/IL‐5, promote Lumican secretion in the synovium, which binds to Annexin A1 in chondrocytes, inhibiting transforming growth factor β2 and Smad2/3 phosphorylation.
