Nanostructured Biomaterial‐Based Approaches to Support Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Differentiation

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), reprogrammed from adult somatic cells, represent an innovative approach for regenerative medicine and biomedical applications. This review highlights the importance of nanostructured biomaterials, utilized as delivery systems or scaffolds, in supporting iPSC differentiation and fate through structural and ...

Development and Characterization of a Poly(l‐co‐d,l Lactic Acid‐co‐Trimethylene Carbonate) and Poly(Vinyl Alcohol) Blend for Potential Meniscal Repair

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of the PLDLA‐TMC/PVA blend structure developed for meniscal repair, highlighting its structural integrity, physicochemical characterizations, and in vitro biological performance. ABSTRACT Meniscal injuries, arising from trauma, aging, or wear, present a significant challenge in modern orthopedics.

Distal femoral morphology as a risk factor for osteoarthritis

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of disability affecting millions of adults in the United States, commonly resulting in the need for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) to restore mobility and quality of life. This study investigates potential differences in baseline distal femoral shape between individuals who received TKA due to OA and a ...

Gout and NLRP3 Inflammasome Biology

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
This review describes the three broad stages of acute inflammation in the context of gout: initiation, leucocyte mobilization, and self‐resolution. A typical case of a gout flare is presented. The role of the NLRP3 inflammasome in acute monosodium urate crystal–induced inflammation is reviewed in detail.
