The Sheffield knee prosthesis

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1974
AbstractA new variant of the hinge type knee prosthesis has been developed in Sheffield, England. To date, the results of the early clinical trial in five patients are satisfactory, but it is recognized that the operation is highly speculative and continuation of the trial is being conducted with extreme caution. The main features are as follows.

The Stanmore Knee Arthrodesis Prosthesis

The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2011
Knee arthrodesis is most commonly performed for failed total knee arthroplasty. Conventional arthrodesis techniques are associated with a high incidence of complications and are unsuitable in cases with extensive bone loss. We report our medium-term results using a custom-made cemented knee arthrodesis prosthesis in 10 patients with a mean follow-up of

Rotating knee prosthesis

Der Orthopäde, 2000
Until the early 1990's our experience in Total Knee Replacement (TKR) was based on AGC 2000, Tricon M and MG implants. Starting from 1992 we decided to use a rotating knee prosthesis. At that time in Italy there were many knee replacement devices with rotating elements: Oxford, LCS, Rotaglide and Endomodel from Link.

-Knee prosthesis-.

Annales de radiologie, 1998
The initial radiological assessment of knee osteoarthritis includes the evaluation of the osteochondral destruction, collateral ligament laxity and the determination of the position of the patella in both the axial and the sagittal planes and the femorotibial angulation in the coronal plane. The different types of knee prostheses are described.

The "Caviar" Madreporic Knee Prosthesis

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1979
The madreporic ("caviar") prosthesis is a hinged knee prosthesis that can be inserted without the use of cement. The surfaces of the intramedullary stems are constructed with contiguous spheres one mm in diameter. These spaces are filled by bone trabeculae and haversian bone, providing permanent biologic fixation.

The infected knee prosthesis

European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology, 2010
Deep infections are among the most severe complications in total knee arthroplasty; infection rates described in recent articles range between 1 and 2%. The most important infection risk prevention measures are skin preparation, antibiotic prophylaxis, and screening and management for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Knee Prosthesis Navigation

2016
Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) represents an effective technique to treat advanced and debilitating knee arthritis. However at long term follow-up the risk of TKA failure still remains a concern. Nowadays the major causes of failures and patient’s dissatisfaction, in addition to infection, are a prosthesis that remains instable or is not well aligned on
