Investigation of knitted fabrics
Three knitted fabrics were evaluated as replacements for Fortisan-Dacron (MS2260444), a knitted fabric presently being used in skins on paper honeycomb and plastic parts. The three fabrics, knitted from rayon, polyester, and a 50:50 combination of rayon/polyester yarns, were impregnated with Epon 828/ Agent U resin to form laminates. (DLC)

Treatment of polypropylene fabric in oxygen plasma was used to impart the fabric surface with more hydrophilic surface properties. Changes in bulk properties were minimal as the modification mainly affected the fabric surface. Bulk fabric properties water retention, moisture content and wicking were monitored over a period of 33 days.
