Example: Knock-Knock!

2021
Thus far in the book, we’ve discovered how to write code for Arduino and Python (on the Raspberry Pi) for projects that use the Qwiic and STEMMA/QT modules. Recall the simple wiring mechanism to connect those modules to your host board.

On knock-for-knock clauses and their optimal regulation

2023
This article addresses two topics in relation to knock for knock contracts. The first topic is the nature and purpose of knock for knock clauses, and why we observe them in some sectors of the economy and not in others. Why, for instance, do we observe knock for knock contracts mainly in the offshore rather than in the onshore oil and gas sector?

Acoustic characterization of combustion chambers in reciprocating engines: An application for low knocking cycles recognition

International Journal of Engine Research, 2020
In this paper the acoustic response of a combustion chamber is studied by assuming different pressure field excitation. The viscous effects on the combustion chamber and the finite impedance of the walls have been modeled with a first order system, which

Knock, Knock; Who’s There?

Management Communication Quarterly, 2011
The entry of new members into an organization can be a time of uncertainty and creativity for both newcomers and veterans. This study explored how humor communication was used by members of a human service organization to negotiate the entry of newcomers.

Differences between PREMIER combustion in a natural gas spark-ignition engine and knocking with pressure oscillations

Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2019
PREMIER (PREmixed Mixture Ignition in the End-gas Region) combustion occurs with auto-ignition in the end-gas region when the main combustion flame propagation is nearly finished.

Knock knock

Proceedings of the Sixth International Conference on Emerging Databases: Technologies, Applications, and Theory, 2016
Address Cleansing is a very challenging problem, in particular, for geographies where there is a lot of variability in address nomenclature. This paper explains how a machine learning classifier is used to build a model that not only identifies a valid address, but also assigns a confidence score to it.

Effect of the turbulence intensity on knocking tendency in a SI engine with high compression ratio using biogas and blends with natural gas, propane and hydrogen

International journal of hydrogen energy, 2019
This research presents the test results carried out in a diesel engine converted to spark ignition (SI) using gaseous fuels, applying a geometry change of the pistons combustion chamber (GCPCC) to increase the turbulence intensity during the combustion ...

Knock, knock no-ones there!

2017
The focus on new, self-service technologies in financial services is a favourite with banks who argue its a mutually beneficial arrangement. However, with holes-in-the-wall replacing bank tellers, robots answering phone calls and online banking proliferating, the question begs, when is enough enough? Mark Durkin reports.

Receptor Knock-Out and Knock-In Strategies

2004
Accumulating examples have demonstrated that knock-out and knock-in mice of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are useful in elucidating physiological functions of the receptor in vivo. GPCR knock-out and knock-in are achieved by either (1) manipulation of the endogenous locus of the receptor gene or (2) transgenic expression of the modified receptor.
