Twisted Alexander Polynomials and Representation Shifts

open access: yes, 2007
For any knot, the following are equivalent. (1) The infinite cyclic cover has uncountably many finite covers; (2) there exists a finite-image representation of the knot group for which the twisted Alexander polynomial vanishes; (3) the knot group admits ...

Characterization of an Injectable Poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin Hydrogel for Growth Factor Delivery in an Orthopedic Application

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces photo‐crosslinkable tyraminated poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin (PVA‐GT) hydrogels as tunable injectable platforms for tissue engineering and growth factor delivery applications. This schematic illustrates the two developed hydrogel formulations and the experimental workflow used to evaluate their physico‐chemical properties in vitro ...

Bending Strength Prediction and Finite Element Analysis of Larch Structural Beams

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
The material constants of wood required for finite element analysis (FEA) are usually calculated using small clear specimens. However, defects, such as knots and slope of grain affect the strength reduction in the full-size specimens.

Knots and Knot-Hyperpaths in Hypergraphs

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
This paper deals with some theoretical aspects of hypergraphs related to hyperpaths and hypertrees. In ordinary graph theory, the intersecting or adjacent edges contain exactly one vertex; however, in the case of hypergraph theory, the adjacent or ...

Toroidal Seifert fibered surgeries on alternating knots

open access: yes, 2014
We give a complete classification of toroidal Seifert fibered surgeries on alternating knots. Precisely, we show that if an alternating knot admits a toroidal Seifert fibered surgery, then the knot is either the trefoil knot and the surgery slope is zero,

Toroidal Seifert fibered surgeries on Montesinos knots

open access: yes, 2010
We show that if a Montesinos knot admits a Dehn surgery yielding a toroidal Seifert fibered 3-manifold, then the knot is the trefoil knot and the surgery slope is 0.Comment: 17 pages, 15 ...

Porosity Engineering of MXene Architectures: Toward High‐Performance Aqueous Electrochemical Energy Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review systematically summarizes recent advances in porosity engineering of MXenes, with a focused discussion on their structure‐governed energy storage properties. A critical analysis of structure–property relationships is presented across alkali‐ion batteries, multivalent‐ion batteries, and supercapacitors.

Computing knots by quadratic and cubic polynomial curves

open access: yesComputational Visual Media, 2020
A new method is presented to determine parameter values (knot) for data points for curve and surface generation. With four adjacent data points, a quadratic polynomial curve can be determined uniquely if the four points form a convex polygon.

Resonant Domain Wall Dynamics in a Three‐Dimensional Magnetic Nano Double Helix

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
3D magnetic nanostructures promise exciting possibilities for magnetization dynamics. However, experimental realizations remain scarce. In nanoprinted cobalt double helices, time‐resolved X‐ray microscopy reveals harmonic domain wall dynamics. Simulations identify the mode and additional higher‐frequency resonances, revealing a rich dynamic landscape ...
