Unveiling the Taxonomic Diversity and Unprecedented Biosynthetic Treasure of the Phylum Myxococcota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Natural products remain vital sources of therapeutics, and the phylum Myxococcota constitutes an especially rich reservoir for them. Based on decades of microbiological efforts, we present 154 new Myxococcota genomes and revise taxonomy quadrupling the number of families and genera.

On‐Demand Deconstructable Thermosets Through Cleavable Comonomer and Thermolatent Base Synergy

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Thermosets, valued for their chemical and mechanical properties, resist recycling due to their cross‐linked structure. Weak bonds via comonomers enable degradability, but diffusion limits effectiveness. We incorporate thermolatent bases before polymerization (thermal or 3D‐VAT printing).

Characterization of Body Knotting Behavior in Hagfish [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Hagfishes possess a flexibility that allows them to form body knots and then slide the knots along their body. This behavior enhances the hagfish’s ability to clean mucous off their body, escape tight spaces, pull prey from burrows and possibly replace ...

Ileo-ileal knot causing acute gangrenous small bowel obstruction: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports
Background Ileo-ileal knotting is a very rare cause of small bowel obstruction, and only a few reports have been published. Small bowel obstruction (SBO) is one of the most common emergency surgical conditions that require urgent evaluation and treatment

Paraborg: Paramedic Cyborg Insects for In Situ Emergency Drug‐Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces Paraborg, a human‐supervised paramedic cyborg‐insect platform that combines controllable locomotion, onboard imaging, and an auto‐injection mechanism for in situ drug‐delivery. By demonstrating reliable navigation, target stabilization, injector launch, and multi‐insect teamwork, the study extends cyborg insects from survivor ...

Force‐Induced Control of Circularly Polarized Luminescence With Rotaxane Architecture

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Force‐induced reversible on/off switching of circularly polarized luminescence is achieved with a rotaxane‐based supramolecular mechanophore. The mechanophore, featuring a chiral helicene luminophore, is incorporated as a first network cross‐linker into a double‐network organogel.

Symmetry‐Imposed Selection Rules for Excitations of Nontrivial Plasmonic Topologies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A unified group‐theory selection rule governs the excitation of vectorial nearfield topologies across three plasmonic spin states. Derived from first principles, it predicts spin–orbit vortex splitting and multidimensional nested vortices, confirmed by phase‐resolved in situ measurements.

Spontaneous knotting of urinary catheters placed with nonindwelling intent: Case series and literature review

open access: yesUrology Annals, 2019
Urethral catheters are placed with nonindwelling intent chiefly for clean intermittent catheterization (CIC), imaging, or collection of a urine sample.

Mechanically Reprogrammed Coaxial Fibers for Multiphysics Transduction and Human‐Machine Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A continuously wet‐spun coaxial fiber is developed to combine stretchable conductivity, resistive sensing, and self‐powered triboelectric sensing in a single architecture. A mechanically reprogrammed dual‐network sheath stabilizes large deformation and improves signal reliability. These fibers can be woven into textile interfaces for multichannel touch
