Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

System Identification Under Multi-rate Sensing Environment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This paper proposes a system identification algorithm for systems with multi-rate sensors in a discrete-time framework. It is challenging to obtain an accurate mathematical model when the ratios of inputs and outputs are different in the system. A cyclic reformulation-based model for multi-rate systems is formulated, and the multi-rate system can be ...

Expansion of situations theory for exploring shared awareness in human-intelligent autonomous systems [PDF]

open access: yes
Intelligent autonomous systems are part of a system of systems that interact with other agents to accomplish tasks in complex environments. However, intelligent autonomous systems integrated system of systems add additional layers of complexity based on their limited cognitive processes, specifically shared situation awareness that allows a team to ...

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Delocalization of a Dynamic System with Preservation or Self-Resurection of Informational Functionality. Ghost machines or can a system survive its destruction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We analyzed the problem of a dynamic system delocalization due to changes in the system environment - universe and system architecture. We developed a Delocalization of Dynamic Cores model to analyze the migration of functional properties in open information and dynamic systems undergoing architecture transition and modifications.

Fuzzy preferences in knowledge-based systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This paper deals with fuzzy preferences. Many different alternative definitions of strict and weak fuzzy preferences can be found in the literature. But most of them do not take into account that fuzzy preferences should allow a complete preference structure, where not only strict and weak preferences are defined, but also indifference and ...

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Highly multiplexed digital PCR assay for simultaneous quantification of variant allele frequencies and copy number alterations of KRAS and GNAS in pancreatic cancer precursors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining melting curve analysis enhances the multiplexing capability of digital PCR. Here, we developed a 14‐plex assay to simultaneously measure single nucleotide mutations and amplifications of KRAS and GNAS, which are common driver genes in pancreatic cancer precursors. This assay accurately quantified variant allele frequencies in clinical samples
