The Knowledge Based View of the Firm: An Assessment
Journal of Organizational Psychology, 2022The knowledge-based view of the firm has gained currency in organizational theory since the 1990s. This paper evaluates it in a historical perspective, and suggests that the new theories of the firm as a receptacle of knowledge emerged in the context of the intensified knowledge communication within organizations in the early 1990s, and organizational ...

Knowledge base views in multiuser knowledge based systems
Proceedings. Fourth International Conference on Data Engineering, 2003The author presents a methodology for representing knowledge in a collection of interlinked, largely autonomous knowledge base views, to facilitate multiple heterogeneous use of a KBS (knowledge based system). The knowledge base views are defined so that while knowledge outside each user's view is transparent to him/her, problem solving can be achieved

Optimized Construction of Secure Knowledge-Base Views [PDF]
In this paper we examine a confidentiality framework for constructing safe KB views with respect to the object-level and the meta-level background knowledge that users may exploit to reconstruct secrets. In particular, we will present a first implementation of our framework equipped with several optimization techniques that are assessed experimentally ...

The paper introduces an extension to the NeeK language [2, 5]. In the current shape NeeK allows for selection of fragments of a given ontology. The selected part is automatically mapped to a database schema by data views implementation [7]. Experience with a real system using data views has shown that the resulting database schema does not necessarily ...

Viewing knowledge bases as qualitative models
IEEE Expert, 1989A viewpoint on expert systems is developed that considers the qualitative nature of knowledge encoded in such programs. It is maintained that all knowledge bases contain models of systems in the world. Reasoning involves sequences of tasks (for example, monitoring and diagnosis) by which an understanding or model of specific situations is related to ...

A Knowledge‐Based View of the Porter Hypothesis
Environmental Policy and Governance, 2013ABSTRACTIt is commonly held that environmental regulation affects competitiveness negatively. The Porter Hypothesis contests this view by proposing a dynamic perspective in which innovations induced by apt environmental policies may offset regulation costs.

Document-Oriented Views of Guideline Knowledge Bases
2007A computer-interpretable guideline knowledge base can be a very large network whose information content is difficult for developers and clinicians to comprehend and review. We created a method to annotate a guideline model and use the annotations to export the guideline knowledge base in an XML format that can be transformed into a readable document ...

View Management Support in Advanced Knowledge Base Servers
Journal of Intelligent Information Systems, 2000“Intelligent” behavior of database and knowledge base management systems is often seen restricted to comfortable support for query answering (including limited forms of reasoning) and navigating within the stored data. However, active notification for clients about changes in the database is an important requirement for advanced interaction between the
