Association Between Symptomatic Knee Osteoarthritis and Target Glycemic Control in Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Knee osteoarthritis (OA) commonly affects individuals with Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and is associated with increased risk of diabetes‐related complications. To better understand potential mechanisms, we examined the association between symptomatic knee OA and glycemic control in individuals with T2DM.

Mobilising research knowledge in education

open access: yesLondon Review of Education, 2011
The field of knowledge mobilisation (KM) addresses the multiple ways in which stronger connections can be made between research, policy and practice. This paper reviews the current situation around knowledge mobilisation in education. It addresses changing understandings of KM, considers some of the main issues in conducting empirical research in the ...

Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Derived Apoptotic Micro‐Vesicles Repaired Sciatic Nerve Defect by Regulating Early Inflammatory Microenvironment and Promoting Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
HUCMSC‐Apo‐mvs enhance peripheral nerve repair by modulating the inflammatory microenvironment (IME), primarily through coordinated actions on three functional cells. They recruit macrophages and promote their polarization from pro‐inflammatory M1 to anti‐inflammatory M2 phenotypes, increasing secretion of IL‐10 and VEGF.

Building Biodiversity Knowledge: Mobilising Citizen Science

open access: yes, 2023
AbstractSouth Africa enjoys a long history of biological exploration and documentation. However, until recently, much of this information remained inaccessible in herbaria, museums and libraries. During the 1970s and ‘80s, a strong tradition of cooperative research led to the rapid expansion of biodiversity knowledge through multidisciplinary biome and
