Knowledge representation and reasoning of XML with ontology
Proceedings of the 2011 ACM Symposium on Applied Computing, 2011Today XML has reached a wide acceptance as the data exchange format for e-commerce. Unfortunately, XML covers the syntactic level, but lacks semantics. Ontology can represent shared domain knowledge and enable semantic interoperability. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an approach for representing and reasoning on XML with ontologies.

The hierarchical knowledge representation for automated reasoning
2010 15th International Conference on Methods and Models in Automation and Robotics, 2010In the paper the study of knowledge hierarchical representation for automated reasoning is presented. The hierarchical knowledge representation is proposed for predictive modeling purpose. It is improved an effective automated reasoning structure for data set analyzes and making decisions based on complex relations between this data. It is important to

Knowledge Representation for Automated Reasoning
2010The issue of knowledge representation has been one of the main problems of artificial intelligence since its first attempts at automated reasoning. Two streams of the evolution of knowledge representation tools may be observed. The first one, developed mainly at academia, results in theoretically sound, but usually inefficient systems.

Knowledge Representation and Non-monotonic Reasoning [PDF]
Logic programming has been deployed to support nonmonotonic reasoning since the late '80s. In this paper, we review semantics, formalisms and computational mechanisms for logic programming for non-monotonic reasoning. We also discuss some formalisms that have emerged from the cross fertilization between the two areas and some applications in as diverse

Problems in Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
2019In Chaps. 4– 7, we developed parameterized complexity tools to adequately characterize the computational complexity of parameterized variants of problems that lie at the second level of the Polynomial Hierarchy (or higher).

A hybrid approach for knowledge representation and reasoning
Proceedings 1993 The First New Zealand International Two-Stream Conference on Artificial Neural Networks and Expert Systems, 2002Symbolic knowledge-based systems as well as neural networks offer several advantages, but suffer from several disadvantages if they are used as isolated systems. In consideration of this fact the main idea is to propose an architecture which is capable of handling both paradigms in one system. In the suggested approach neural networks are treated as an

Knowledge representation and reasoning for discourse understanding
1989Extra-linguistic knowledge is necessary for discourse understanding. In this paper, we classify the knowledge, and present a framework to describe it using frames and rules. With this framework, it is easy to represent an IS-A hierarchy, which is based on a classification by different viewpoints, and to describe functions of objects as declarative ...
