Influence of Knudsen and Mach numbers on Kelvin-Helmholtz instability
Physical Review E, 2021The combined influence of rarefaction and compressibility on classical Kelvin-Helmholtz instability is investigated with numerical simulations employing the unified gas kinetic scheme. Five different regimes in the Reynolds-Mach-Knudsen number parameter space are identified.

Significance of Knudsen number and corrugation on EMHD flow under metallic nanoparticles impact
, 2020The impacts of surface wavy roughness on the viscous fluid flow inside microchannel through corrugated walls is examined. The Navier–Stokes equations are simplified by utilizing perturbation technique with incorporated microscopic slip conditions at the ...

In this work, an improved implicit discrete velocity method (DVM) on unstructured meshes is developed for simulation of three-dimensional (3D) flows in all flow regimes. Different from the conventional DVM, in which only the kinetic governing equation (i.

On the Peristaltic Transport in Small-Knudsen-Number Flow
Meccanica, 2000The authors show that the mean streamwise distribution (averaged over time) due to the peristaltic motion in the case of free pumping is dominated by \(R_0\) (or \(K_n\)), which allow to determine the boundary value \(D_y\) of the \(y\)-gradient of the first-order streamwise velocity distribution.

We consider, on the basis of dimensional analysis, the use of the Knudsen number and aerosol Knudsen number in the kinetics of Brownian coagulation of aerosols. The aerosol Knudsen numberKnp emerges naturally when one assumes that the aerosol particle motion can be described in terms of Brownian motion.

A unified gas-kinetic scheme for axisymmetric flow in all Knudsen number regimes
Journal of Computational Physics, 2018Based on kinetic model equation, a unified gas-kinetic scheme for axisymmetric flow (UGKS-AS) is proposed in the whole flow regimes. The flux transport of UGKS-AS is based on a reduced gas distribution function of a time integral solution of the full 3D ...

Low-Knudsen-number transport and deposition
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1994We present our model for transport and deposition in features for situations in which intermolecular collisions dominate the species transport. Species transport in this ‘‘low’’-Knudsen-number regime is modeled using continuum diffusion. Our model allows both homogeneous reactions and heterogeneous (surface) reactions.
