One-year seizure freedom and quality of life in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy receiving adjunctive vagus nerve stimulation in Japan. [PDF]

open access: yesEpilepsia Open
Abstract Objective Amount of seizure‐free days is a critical determinant of quality of life (QoL) in patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy (DRE). The fractions of patients experiencing prolonged periods of seizure freedom with adjunctive vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) have yet to be assessed on a large scale.

Influence of temperature on twitch potentiation following submaximal voluntary contractions in human plantar flexor muscles. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiol Rep, 2023
Abstract This study aimed to clarify the influence of temperature on post‐activation twitch potentiation, a possible indicator of fast‐twitch fiber activation during a preceding voluntary contraction. Ten healthy males immersed their left lower leg in water of different temperatures (cold: 0°C, neutral: 32–35°C, hot: ~43°C) for 20 min each.

The Japanese Catheter Ablation Registry (J-AB): Annual report in 2022. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Arrhythm
Abstract The Japanese Catheter Ablation (J‐AB) registry, started in August 2017, is a voluntary, nationwide, multicenter, prospective, observational registry, performed by the Japanese Heart Rhythm Society (JHRS) in collaboration with the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center.

On-feet isometric bracing maintains cerebral arterial blood velocity during lower body negative pressure via preload augmentation. [PDF]

open access: yesExp Physiol
Abstract Orthostatic stress reduces venous return and stroke volume (SV), risking cerebral hypoperfusion despite autonomic compensation. Although lower‐limb counterpressure manoeuvres improve cerebral perfusion in upright posture, their effects on cerebral blood velocity (CBV) during lower‐body negative pressure (LBNP) and the associated mechanisms are

The Japanese Catheter Ablation Registry (J‐AB): Annual report in 2021

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 39, Issue 6, Page 853-859, December 2023., 2023
AF ablation is the leading procedure and is gradually increasing. Abstract The Japanese Catheter Ablation (J‐AB) registry, started in August 2017, is a voluntary, nationwide, multicenter, prospective, observational registry, performed by the Japanese Heart Rhythm Society (JHRS) in collaboration with the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center using

Usefulness of P‐wave peak time as an electrocardiographic parameter in predicting left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in patients with mitral regurgitation

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 27, Issue 6, November 2022., 2022
Conventional Doppler measurements have some limitations in predicting left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) in patients with mitral regurgitation (MR). Electrocardiographic P‐wave peak time (PWPT) has been proposed as a parameter of LVDD. We evaluated correlation between the PWPT in lead II (PWPTII) and left ventricular end‐diastolic pressure ...

Olig2‐specific loss‐of‐function Slc35a2 results in hypomyelination and spontaneous seizures

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 2, Page 950-965, February 2026.
Abstract Objective Malformations of cortical development represent major causes of drug‐resistant epilepsy, with mild malformation of cortical development with oligodendroglial hyperplasia and epilepsy recognized as a distinct pathological entity. Pathogenic X‐linked SLC35A2, encoding the uridine diphosphate–galactose transporter, has been implicated ...

Targeting the SOD1‒MMP‐2‒COLXVII axis: A therapeutic strategy for age‐related tissue degeneration

open access: yesVIEW, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2025.
Our work identifies a novel role for MMP‐2 in driving senescence‐associated skin and muscle degeneration through ECM degradation. We demonstrate that inhibiting MMP‐2 activity restores tissue integrity by preserving COLXVII, revealing a new therapeutic pathway for combating oxidative stress‐induced tissue aging. Using both mammalian and nematode models,

Synpunkter på NOMESKO-kodens tillämpning vid olycksregistrering

open access: yesSocialmedicinsk tidskrift, 1987

Gender differences in the relationship between sleep and age in a Brazilian cohort: the Baependi Heart Study

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 4, August 2025.
Summary Gender and age are well‐established determinants of health and sleep health that influence overall health, which also often varies by gender and age. Sleep architecture is an important component of sleep health. The goal of this analysis was to examine whether associations between age and sleep stages differ by gender in the absence of moderate–
