Nazik el-Melaike 1923 yılında Bağdat’ta dünyayagelmiştir. Anne ve babasından etkilenen el-Melaike küçük yaşta şiir yazmayabaşlamıştır. Anne ve babası da şairdir. Özellikle babası birçok şairinyetişmesinde katkıda bulunmuştur. Üniversite eğitimini Daru’l-Muallimin adlıokulda tamamlamıştır.
