Abstract Due to their exposure to waves, volcanic island coasts typically retreat with cliff collapses and other erosional processes. Understanding how retreat rates vary over time and in response to environmental and other factors could be useful for geohazard assessment, coastal management and landform reconstruction.

Ground Track Maintenance Maneuver Simulations for the KOMPSAT Spacecraft [PDF]
Ground track maintenance maneuver simulations for the KOMPSAT spacecraft are performed for three and half years. Both longitude targeting and time targeting strategies are applied for in-plane maneuvers. The nominal longitude bands of maneuvers for ±5 km

Abstract During the 2018–2019 Antarctic summer, the Korea Polar Research Institute and the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics collaborated on a helicopter‐based ice‐penetrating radar (IPR) survey over the active subglacial lake D2 (SLD2), located in the midstream of the David Glacier, Terra Nova Bay, Antarctica.

Assessment of Commercial GNSS Radio Occultation Performance from PlanetiQ Mission
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) radio occultation (RO) provides valuable 3-D atmospheric profiles with all-weather, all the time and high accuracy. However, GNSS RO mission data are still limited for global coverage.

Validation of GPS Based Precise Orbits Using SLR Observations [PDF]
In this study, the YLPODS (Yonsei Laser-ranging Precision Orbit Determination System) is developed for POD using SLR (Satellite Laser Ranging) NP (Normal Point) observations. The performance of YLPODS is tested using SLR NP observations of TOPEX/POSEIDON

Feasibility Study on SAR Systems on Small Satellites [PDF]
The design of an orbital SAR mission is the result of a number of trade-offs. For example, a higher resolution requires more transmitted power, or an increase in the strip-map azimuth resolution results in a smaller possible swath.

Analysis and Simulations for the Severe Turbulence Event Aloft Myanmar on 21 May 2024
This paper performed an analysis of a severe turbulence event encountered by Singapore airlines SQ321 on 21 May 2024 over Myanmar, which led to one fatality and multiple injuries. Model simulation with convective permitting resolution indicated the development of convective cells, but precise Eddy Dissipation Rate (EDR) values are difficult to obtain ...

GEOSPATIAL ANALYSIS USING REMOTE SENSING IMAGES: CASE STUDIES OF ZONGULDAK TEST FIELD [PDF]
Inclined topographies are one of the most challenging problems for geospatial analysis of air-borne and space-borne imageries. However, flat areas are mostly misleading to exhibit the real performance.

Abstract This study investigated electron phase space densities (PSDs) in geostationary orbits using data from Korea's geostationary satellite, GK2A, as well as GOES‐16 and GOES‐17 satellites. The PSDs were computed from electron fluxes measured by each satellite during a geomagnetically quiet period as defined by stringent conditions on geomagnetic ...
