KOMPSAT-2 Precise Orbit Determination Using GPS Data

25th AIAA International Communications Satellite Systems Conference (organized by APSCC), 2007
A Precise Orbit Determination (POD) has been developed for Korea multipurpose satellite-2 (KOMPSAT-2) to fulfill the requirement for 1 m positioning accuracy. The POD is resolved using single-frequency Global Positioning System (GPS) data in a dynamic filter.

Flight Dynamics Operations for KOMPSAT-5 LEOP

SpaceOps 2012 Conference, 2012
The KOMPSAT-5 is the first synthetic aperture radar satellite in South Korea, equipped with a single frequency GPS receiver and a dual frequency GPS receiver. The KOMPSAT-5 will be launched in the middle of 2012 by DNEPR launcher, and its mission orbit is 550km sun-synchronous dawn-dusk orbit with a 28 day ground repeat cycle.

Precise geometric modeling for KOMPSAT-1 satellite imagery

IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2003
The geometric modeling for 3-D positioning was performed using the strip stereo images with the ancillary data of KOMPSAT-1. As a result, the satellite position vector offset was corrected by only one ground control point and the accuracy for the geometric modeling improved to 25.7 m RMSE.

Soil moisture detection using KOMPSAT-5 SAR data

2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010
The applicability of the KOMPSAT-5 (Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-5) SAR on soil moisture detection is addressed in this paper. At first, the penetration into and reflection from bare soil surfaces at X-band are compared with those at L-band for homogeneous and inhomogeneous moisture profiles.

Long-Term Evolution of the KOMPSAT-1 Orbit

The Journal of the Astronautical Sciences, 2005
A long-term orbital evolution of the Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-1 is monitored and analyzed in this paper. Four years of orbital evolution is divided into four phases in terms of the operational status of the satellite. Orbit determination results, which are obtained from the satellite’s GPS navigation data, are used to convert the osculating orbit ...

CCSDS packet data processing of KOMPSAT MCE system

Fifth Asia-Pacific Conference on ... and Fourth Optoelectronics and Communications Conference on Communications,, 1999
The mission control element (MCE) is a control and monitoring system of Korea's Multi-purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT). The MCE receives telemetry from the satellite, and send telecommands via the S-band. This paper describes the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) standards for telecommand and telemetry, and the telecommand and telemetry ...
