ABSTRACT This study examines why Japan's social care reforms of the early 1970s led to a generous elderly care system but only modest and narrowly targeted support for children. Although child allowances and free medical care for the elderly were introduced almost simultaneously, they followed sharply divergent paths.

Kondo effect in " bad metals "
We study the low-temperature properties of a Kondo lattice using the large−N formalism. For a singular density of conduction states (DOS), we generalize the single-impurity result of Withoff and Fradkin: the strong-coupling fixed point becomes irrelevant

Lifshitz Transition in Correlated Topological Semimetals
Theoretical calculations reveal that in YPtBi and GdPtBi, strong electronic correlations shift topological Dirac nodes away from the Fermi level by forming large hole pockets. This effect is sensitive to temperature and arises from interactions among 4d or 4f electrons, offering insights into Fermi surface engineering in quantum materials.
